The northern half of Oakledge Park is all about the beaches, the growing universal access playground, and the shelters where family and friends gather, but the southern portion of the park is where a growing number of pollinators gather, from birds to insects. On the east lies the Upper Wetland, and to the west the Lower. Native trees and shrubs are being planted yearly to increase the biodiversity in this preserve surrounded by the city. Access this increasingly wild locale via the bike path, which runs between the two meadows and connects to Austin Drive, or park in the last parking lot off of Flynn Avenue by the Upper Shelter.
