The Heineburg Wetlands are easily overlooked by passersby on Vermont Route 127, but this untamed natural area plays home to wildlife from foxes and bobcats, to waterfowl. An informal trail leads from the highway bridge east along the edge of the Winooski River. Birders and fishermen will find themselves lost in the beauty of this boggy preserve. Access it on foot from the path along Plattsburgh Avenue/Route 127 just before the bridge.
