Ethan Allen Park was one of the first public forest parks in the country and today remains a great place to go on a hike or bike ride. Woods filled with a variety of trees are situated along a ridge created by an ancient thrust fault. Currently serving as the western terminus of the Burlington Wildways Trail, a paved trail traverses the entire park, with dirt trails following old carriage roads looping through the rest of the natural area. Two great viewpoints top the park: Ethan Allen Tower which sits like a giant rook on the ridge, and the Pinnacle which features a gazebo at the highest point in the park. Access the park via the 127 Bike Path and the Burlington Wildways Trail from Salmon Hole Park, or park in the lot at the junction of North Avenue and Ethan Allen Parkway.
