Urban Reserve

Urban Reserve

Not long ago, the Urban Reserve was an industrial complex on Burlington’s waterfront. Today the Reserve is one of the most scenic spots to stop along the Burlington Greenway.

Tree and shrub restoration plantings are writing a new chapter in this wild place’s ecological history. Residents of the area include red and grey foxes, raccoons, deer, rabbits, mink, and coyotes which traverse the edge of the bluff and shoreline habitat zones.

Connection

The Urban Reserve is one of the essential corridors for wildlife connecting the Burlington Intervale to the shores of Lake Champlain. To the northeast are Kieslich Park and Arthur Park and further up the shoreline sit North Beach and Rock Point.

Access

The Urban Reserve is easily accessible from the Burlington Greenway for walkers and bikers and bike racks are available at the fitness stations by the dog park and Texaco Beach. A multi-use path [under construction] will connect the northern end of the Urban Reserve to North Avenue through Kieslich Park. Pay-to-park spaces are available at Waterfront Park adjacent to the Andy A_Dog Skate Park and the Sailing Center.
