Schmanska Park

Schmanska Park

63 Grove St

Schmanska Park was donated to the City of Burlington in 1942 and boasts numerous recreational opportunities and gathering spaces, but the land contains a section of woodland with informal trails exploring the hillside below the Greenmount Cemetery where once-forgotten gravesites peek through the undergrowth and water seeps toward the Centennial Brook.

Connection

This park serves as an important corridor across the Old East End for wildlife. Schmanska Park is connected to other contiguous forests to the south including Centennial Woods and the Greenmount Cemetery. Just north over the hill sits Salmon Hole park and the expanses of the Burlington Intervale. This series of natural areas creates an important corridor for travel of wildlife in the city.

Access

Schmanska Park can be accessed via the main entrance on Grove street where a parking lot on the east side of the street connects via rapid flashing crosswalk beacons. Those walking may also access the park via a steep trail down the hill from the Greenmount Cemetery. Limited bike parking is available at the playground by the main entrance.
