Salmon Hole Park

Salmon Hole Park

5.6 Acres

236 Riverside Ave

Salmon Hole Park is a beautiful place to watch the waters cascade down the Winooski River. Look for wildlife such as ducks, otters, and beavers, or try your hand at fishing. Dark red rocks jut into the river just below the Lower Falls Dam, where steelheads, walleye, and, in the fall, landlocked Atlantic salmon fight their way upriver to their spawning grounds.

Connection

The Burlington Wildways Trail begins at Salmon Hole Park making a 9.5 mile-long journey from the banks of the Winooski, through the wild places of Burlington, all the way to the shores of Lake Champlain. This park is one of many wild places that follow the banks of the Winooski through the city.

Access

Salmon Hole Park can be accessed via Riverside Avenue and Intervale Rd*. Parking is available in a small lot at 236 Riverside Avenue. Walkers and bikers will find easy access via the Riverside Avenue multi-use path and a bike rack is available at the parking lot by the kiosk. *Walkers may additionally access Salmon Hole Park via the Riverwalk trail which runs from Salmon Hole Park to Intervale Rd, you’ll see it within the first 250’ on your right.
